AVE MARIA CONCERT DAY

When celebrating Christmas, Maria/Mary deserves an honourable music event at your parish, at your church, or at your gathering.

Create a small concert. Select some of the finest music compositions. For instance, composer Burgmuller for piano, composers Gounod, Skipper, Schubert for solo performance, or Mendelssohn or Verdi for choir.

December 23rd - the day before Mary gives birth - is a most perfect day to hail the mother and motherhood in general by singing Ave Maria. A small concert, performing a few of the 3000 songs, would be even more perfect.

The first recorded Christian mission to China was led by the Syriac monk known in Chinese as Alopen. Alopen's mission arrived in the Chinese capital Chang'an in 635, during the reign of Emperor Taizong of the Tang Dynasty.

CITY CONCERT

Between ten and twenty Ave Maria compositions were performed in Italy at a city concert.

Every city has a festival during the period of summer, but only few cities have picked up the idea of celebrating Mary/Maria bringing life to the 3000 compositions. In fact, many Italians only know a few Ave Maria songs, namely Schuberts and Bachs compositions

Ave Maria for church masses and ceremonies are different from the most popular Ave Maria compositions.

With over 200.000 churches in the world, Ave Maria Concert Festivals hope that more and more get inspired to do their own concert every year for the audience of their own community.

Ave Maria Concert Festivals was introduced briefly to Head of Music of Sct. Peters Cathedral in Rome in April 2011, and the conceptional idea was presented at Catedral San Cataldo in May 2011 in front of RAI reporters and celebrities.

Year 2012 the choir famous for performing at the La Scala Opera, Milan, joined as the "house choir" - meaning the choir can be booked by professional promoters globally for major concert hall performances. The choir will perform any of the 3000 songs.

AVE MARIA - Skipper/Bach

Everybody knows the name Coppola from the film industry, but only few knows the talented fragile and yet strong voice of Alessia Coppola.

Alessia Coppola was discovered among a unit of talented Italian artists, and was immediately signed to record this Ave Maria at a meeting with representatives from the Italian film world, songwriters, and talents, held in Taranto.

The Ave Maria was originally intended for Whitney Houstons voice, however, things didn't work out as planned, because Whitney suddenly passed away.

Please listen to this pop-classical arrangement composed on top of the famous piece/setting of Johann Sebastian Bach, who wrote this Prelude in 1617 - the pop music at that time.

At this recording you find the delicate Italian tradition of contemporary pop-music drama already during the intro, continuing with soft percussion, strenghtening towards the end with horns, and spacing out towards the end.

Ave Maria Concert Festivals challenge young composers to understand, that when Liszt composed his Ave Maria, it was considered as pop-music. When Beyounce present her Ave Maria, it is considered pop-music. When Schubert composed his Ave Maria year 1825 it was considered pop-music.

Thus and therefore we will like to encourage you to inform us, if you have composed an Ave Maria.

Everybody has the right to love good music - no matter what religious or cultural beliefs.

Ave Maria bring people together. The composition of Gounod and Bach has caused some discussion and conflict, because Bach was a Protestant, and Gounod was a Catholic. The fact that the music publisher was a Jew (in 1853) also created a gap in the minds of The Vatican.

Nowadays, people in general are more tolerant and accept versions like Beyonce Knowles "Ave Maria", which in fact promote "Ave Maria" to a new youth. "Ave Maria" is a prayer to the inner soul of human beings, and young people in Korea and Asia has taken the song into their hearts.

Schubert's "Ave Maria" used to be the most popular song of prayer. However, despite the fact that Schubert was a Catholic, a question mark has shadowed his song, because the text refers to a "non-married couple". The text, however, originally derives from a Scottish poem.

We found this Ave Maria written by Jack Telfer St. Claire in year 2008.

Here is what the composer comment about his own music:

"Written for and sung by the Ambrosian singers from Backwell school.

I went to a concert to hear these girls sing and I enjoyed listening to them so much, I felt inspired to write a piece for them. I chose latin because the vowel sounds are supposed to be the best of any language for producing a natural sound so i'm told. There are a couple of mistakes but it's pretty tricky to sing!

Please note I'm not in anyway religious, but I used to be a chorister and so I love lots of sacred music. I hope you enjoy my composition.
